Looking for a fun way to spend the last few weekends before school starts? The City of Arcata has the perfect solution. Beginning Saturday, August 2nd, and running for three consecutive weekends, “August Arts in the Park” provides quality entertainment for the whole family.

Sponsored by Arcata’s Recreation Division, “August Arts in the Park” will feature dancers, musicians, storytellers and clowns representing a variety of genres and cultures. All events will take place in Redwood Park. Admission to all events is $5 per person.

The lineup of events is as follows:

Saturday, August 2 - You can either sit back and relax or get up and dance with Kulica, one of the most popular bands in the region, as they play their unique blend of sounds designed to refresh your soul and get you groovin’. Music starts at 7 pm.

A late afternoon of Blue Lake bands after the Annie and Mary Day Pagaent! A whole day and evening of great fun in Blue Lake! part of The Mad River Festival. ALL AGES! Outside under the summer sky in DellArte’s Rooney Amphitheatre.  We start about 5:15pm.  So come join us after the street parade!!

The Mateel Community Center will present the 32nd annual Summer Arts and Music Festival at Benbow Lake State Recreation Area. A beloved local tradition to celebrate the arrival of summer, this favorite family event will again offer the most comprehensive celebration of arts and culture in Humboldt County, with more than 100 diverse performances on 5 stages, over 150 handmade craft and food booths, an all-media fine arts showcase, outrageous kid zone, and so much more.
